Rotation
General information
The Institute offers basic rotations, which all students must complete in the 9th or 10th semester.
In addition, specialization rotations according to § 60 of the TAppV (2006) can be completed on a voluntary basis as an elective internship over a period of at least 75 hours within two weeks and a maximum of 350 hours within eight weeks at the institute. These then take place in addition to the basic rotations. We recommend the specialization rotation for those students who would like to learn more about the subject, career opportunities as a pathologist and possibilities for a later doctorate at the institute.organization and content of the basic rotation
The aims of the basic rotation are
- Problem- and case-oriented teaching of basic principles of general and special pathology and pathohistology
- Teaching the reasons, possibilities and limitations of post-mortem diagnostics
- Learning the dissection technique
- Learning about exemplary organ and whole-body changes
- Writing own autopsy reports
- Introduction to biopsy diagnostics (service function for clinicians or for living animals)
- Getting to know the tasks and functions of an animal pathology institute
- Independent preparation and presentation of a problem-oriented lecture in seminar style
The rotation concludes with taking the third and fourth parts of the pathology examination (state examination).
