(Equine) science meets practice
News from Dec 17, 2024
Celina Wolf, Juliane Bränswig and Manuela Herwig, students in their 5th semester of Equine Science (B.Sc), organized this event under the motto “Science meets Practice” in the module “Project Management”. The varied program – from the early detection of risk factors for orthopedic problems in riding horses to the topics of shoeing, saddles and poisonous plants, to vector-borne diseases in horses – impressed the audience, who also took the opportunity to ask the experts questions from their everyday lives with horses. Degree program coordinator Jörg Kotenbeutel was very satisfied with the event, which took place in this form for the second time and certainly not for the last.
Many thanks to the speakers, who kindly “sacrificed” a large part of their Saturday for this event: Dr. Svenja Rheinfeld (equine specialist veterinarian, specializing in equine orthopedics at our Equine Clinic), Volker Schurig (teaching black smith), Karsten Witte (equestrian saddle master), Prof. Eva-Maria Saliu (Dipl. ECVCN, HNE Eberswalde) and Jennifer Schmidt (Institute for Parasitology and Tropical Veterinary Medicine at our department).
