BEVL’s mission is to develop and apply accurate, state-of-the-art, time- and cost-effective diagnostic services. These services are essential for surveillance of viral diseases with the ultimate goal to improve horse health and well-being. It also contributes to the mission of the Freie Universitaet Berlin and the College of Veterinary Medicine through education, training, and research for the purpose of protecting animal welfare domestically and globally. The BEVL is a reference lab for the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and the Deutsche Veterinärmedizinische Gesellschaft (DVG).
