Diagnostic services, forms
We carry out a wide range of diagnostic tests for the scientific institutions of the School of Veterinary Medicine, for veterinarians in private practice and veterinary clinics, as well as for private clients and companies. The diagnostics include all domestic and farm animals as well as zoo and wild animals.
We currently carry out around 8,000 biopsy examinations and around 800 post-mortem examinations every year. We also offer numerous special immunohistochemical and molecular biological detection methods. You can find submission forms here or we will be happy to send them to you on request by telephone.
Autopsies of whole carcasses of deceased animals
Animal carcasses can be handed in at any time via the delivery point (see map), where refrigeration facilities and forms are available at all times.

A "farewell" by patient owners is only possible before the animal carcass is handed in for examination, as access to the examination rooms is restricted to employees of the institute due to epidemiological regulations.
Examination of biopsies, tumors and cytological specimens
When placing an order, you can choose whether the examination is to be carried out by employees of the Institute or by Prof. Gruber or Prof. Klopfleisch personally. Please use the respective order forms:

- Diagnostics of notifiable animal diseases:
Since January 1, 2009, the Berlin-Brandenburg State Laboratory - Institute for Food, Drugs, Animal Diseases and the Environment, which resulted from the merger of the Brandenburg State Laboratory with the Berlin Institute for Food, Drugs and Animal Diseases (ILAT), has been responsible for Berlin and Brandenburg. An overview of the organization and individual contact persons can be found here: Organigram - The examination of poultry is carried out by the Institute for Poultry Diseases.
- Fish can be tested by the Berlin-Brandenburg State Laboratory - Institute for Food, Drugs, Animal Diseases and the Environment. In Berlin, a specialized ornamental fish veterinarian is also available.
