Education

The institute organises the education in the area of biostatistics and epidemiology. For veterinary students, a course in biostatistics is offered to the 2nd semester and elective courses regarding different topics of epidemiology are offered to higher semesters. For bachelor and master students in Horse Sciences, a course in statistics and epidemiology is offered.

Furthermore, the institute offers events in the context of the Dahlem Research School (PhD-studies) as well as the attendance at the European College of Veterinary Public Health (ECVPH).

Research

Scientists of the Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology and Biostatistics are engaged in several third-party funded projects. Research is focused on 

• Veterinary Public Health,
• Applied Epidemiology, and
• Systemic Modelling.

Dissertations, PhD-studies as well as bachelor, master and diploma theses on different research areas are supervised within the institute. Applications are welcome.

Service

The institute is part of the statistical service unit fu:stat of the FU Berlin and offers in this context consultation regarding study design, evaluation of questionnaires, data collection and statistical analysis. Consultation is predominantly addressed to students, postgraduates and colleagues at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
