Enrolled students are insured by the Unfallkasse Berlin (UKB) for accidents at work and on the way to and from work and for occupational illnesses (see FU circular on the new regulations in the insurance system from 2004, 02/04, Series H).

Information on insurance cover for extramural internships

During an extramural internship, students are insured by the respective institution and not by the university. Information on insurance cover for extramural internships can be found here.

In summary: If the internship takes place directly in the department, you are insured against accidents via the university. If the internship takes place outside the department, you must be insured through the internship company. You must register this with the relevant accident insurance provider.
