Communication skills are among the most important key competencies of veterinarians. Whether talking to patient owners, colleagues, employees or superiors, efficient communication skills are the key to a positive working environment, satisfied patient owners and thus the optimal treatment of animal patients.

Mandatory Courses

2. Semester: Cross Sectionional Focus: Communication

In this e-learning course, students learn about various communication and conversation models and get to apply them in various exercises and self-reflection tasks that are based on everyday situations of veterinary student and veterinarians.

 5. Semester: Clinical Propaedeutics – Communication

In these exercises, students train the practical application of communication and conversation management models in role plays with and without counterparts (actors) when taking a medical history, delivering bad news and in conflict situations. The subsequent 360° feedback allows for reflection and formal testing of communication skills.
