Veterinary Anatomy Teaching Collection

Our teaching collection provides a comprehensive and unique resource for education and research in the field of veterinary medicine.

Exhibits in the Collection

The collection includes an impressive variety of specimens that illustrate the anatomy of different animal species. There are various wet specimens, spout and corrosion anatomical specimens as well as numerous dry specimens and models. Modern preparation techniques and conservation measures ensure that the exhibits are preserved in high quality and very durable. The comparative wax preparations on the topography of the head and limbs are particularly noteworthy. These high-quality wax models, made according to the anatomical atlases of dogs, horses and cattle by Prof. Budras, offer a precise representation of the anatomical structures and are indispensable teaching aids for students and veterinarians.

Use in Teaching

The specimens are central teaching aids in courses, tutorials and practical exercises. By continuously serving as a template for 3D scanning and printing, they are also increasingly available to students digitally and in multiple versions, enabling students to study anatomical structures in detail on the object and thus deepen the theoretical foundations of anatomy through practical experience. The specimens thus promote the understanding of complex structural and functional relationships in anatomy and help to optimally prepare students for their future tasks as practicing veterinarians

Research and Further Development

The teaching collection is not only of great importance for teaching and in research. It provides valuable data for anatomical studies and supports scientific projects. Through continuous expansion and updating, the collection remains a lively and up-to-date teaching and research tool.

Accessibility

The comparative teaching collection is accessible to our students at specific times. Guided tours and visits are possible by appointment only.
